"I lived in Plainfield New Jersey till about 1948 on Berkman Street around the corner on South Avenue. The next building consisted of "mirror" store fronts. One was occupied by my step father who had a coffee, hot dog, etc, store. The right hand part.. It had the name Russe's painted below the front window, and it was there for about 20 years after me moved out. The other side contained the FIRST Link trainer. Mr. Link (inventor) would put me in (the link trainer) and let me do whatever I wanted. I "trained" in it many times till we moved away in 1948 when I was 10. He had a son who died in one of their Bathyspheres, and another who was a Giant, Frank, could touch both my ears with one hand.. and had a Cadillac he could reach over and wash the side window on the other SIDE!
In 1960 I was on the First "Boomer" The George Washington on it's first patrol. I am now 77.
