Our deepest condolences to the family of George Weixler, a NAS Fort Lauderdale Museum member, and WWII veteran, who passed away September 18, 2015.
Thank you to Mark Friedman for letting us know of his passing. He told us that Mr. Weixler was happy to know this Museum existed and he enjoyed visiting with friends and family, as well as attending our functions and Luncheons, where he was an active participant. Many of us remember his emotional thanks to WWII Navy flyers Woody Woodbury, and Leo Gray, as he credited the fighter pilots for keeping him safe. George was a gunner on the Dauntless dive bomber, on combat missions during the war in the Pacific. George donated several personal items to the Museum which are on display. They will be a reminder to us all, of this lovely and generous man.
this past February with his family, while visiting the Museum.
